Power comes from a Cosworth DOHC 16V four, fitted with a Garrett T25 turbocharger and Sunâ??s optional HP kit for a claimed 280 horsepower when new. Paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, power is distributed to all four corners with a 2/3 bias toward the rear wheels. The steering rack has been rebuilt, and the engine, transmission, and differentials received fresh fluids when acquired last year, with 500 miles added since. The selling dealer, Northwest European, reports having had a few of these in stock over the years and sold one here on BaT earlier this year. This Escort RS Cosworth is now being offered with a clean Washington State title. The Escort RS was built on an altered Sierra Cosworth platform and assembled by Karmann in Germany. Body panels and silver finish are believed to be original. Factory 16â?³ wheels wear Toyo Proxes R1R tires. The first 2500 Escort Cosworths were built to homologate the Escort RS for entry into WRC competition, and lacked sunroofs and sound deadening materials. Supportive Ford Motorsport front seats are manufactured by Recaro. The headliner is reportedly beginning to sag around the rear grab handles, and the shift boot is showing wear. The Cosworth YBT engine utilizes a Garret T25 turbocharger, and with the Sun HP kit, was rated at 280 horsepower and 330 lb-ft torque when new. Compared to the earlier Escort RS models with the larger T35 turbo, the the T25 reportedly spools more quickly, reducing the turbo lag associated with its predecessor.
