Description
Finished in Poppy Red over a black vinyl interior, the data-plate shows that the car left Fordâ??s Dearborn, Michigan plant in November 1964. A full restoration was completed in 2001, at which point the car was traded into the local Ford dealership towards a new Ford Thunderbird. The body and interior were refinished in their original colors during the restoration, although Hi-Po badges and Magnum wheels have been installed. The 289ci V8 was also fitted with a four-barrel carburetor and Tri-Y headers. The engine bay and trunk were refinished to match, and the undercarriage has been finished in flat black from the firewall back. Magnum 14â? wheels are shod in BFGoodrich Radial T/A rubber. Replacement upholstery in the original colors shows to have been installed during the restoration. Seat belts come fitted for the driver and passenger, and a factory blanking plate has been fitted over the radio cut-out. Cooling is provided by an aftermarket aluminum radiator, while a Toploader four-speed manual gearbox transmits power to the rear axle. In May 2015, a new alternator wiring harness and replacement voltage regulator were installed, and a brake service was performed at the same time. The undercarriage appears to remain tidy with new or rebuilt components present throughout. The rear axle and manual gearbox were reportedly rebuilt by a local professional NASCAR mechanic during the restoration. Four wheel drum brakes and manual steering come fitted.
