1960 Porsche 356B Roadster Project

Over the past two decades the car has been the subject of an ongoing restoration, which included an exterior repaint, refreshed interior, new top, and rebuild of the matching-numbers flat-four with a big bore kit. Some troubleshooting of the electrical system is still required, though the car appears complete and is accompanied by several spare parts. Originally finished in Aetna Blue, the car was stripped to bare metal and fitted with new metal in the floors and battery box, followed by a repaint in Guards Red. A newer set of bumpers have replaced the originals, and new tires have been mounted on the color-matched steel wheels. A new soft top has been installed and is shown above and in the main gallery. The interior is a mix of replacement and original components, and a new wiring harness was fitted. The radio requires installation and the horn and headlights are presently inoperable. New upholstery and carpets show well in the provided photos. Work included fitting a 1,750cc big-bore kit with new pistons, rings, and cylinders, while the transmission was gone through with new seals and gaskets along with a new clutch disc and pressure plate. The car was last run in 2016. Engine #600669 can be seen above and matches the information provided by the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Brakes have been updated with new components. The Porsche CoA confirms the engine number and displays the factory colors. Several service records and extra parts acquired over the course of the restoration are included in the sale.
