1966 Lotus Elan S2 5-Speed

This 1966 Lotus Elan S2 was imported to the US in 1977 after being purchased out of the UK. Work included a rebuild of the 1,558cc twin-cam four and an Alfa 5-speed gearbox conversion. The black interior was fitted with new interior panels, console, and seat covers at the time of the restoration. The dash features new bookmatched cherry veneer and is topped with the original crack-free pad. The original wood wheel is also retained, and the suite of Smiths gauges include extra units for clock, amp, oil, and water readings. The odometer shows 2,801 miles and is believed to be the total mileage since the completion of the restoration. At the time of the conversion in 2012, the gearbox was fitted with a new second gear synchro and accompanied by the installation of a new sliding spine and universal joints. Additional work included a rebuild of the clutch master and slave cylinders along with a new Alfa Romeo clutch fitted within the Lotus clutch assembly. Brake calipers were rebuilt with new seals and stainless steel pistons and are paired with all new brake lines and flex hoses, while the suspension was upgraded with a CV joint conversion along with Koni shocks with adjustable ride height.
