Description

This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 was built at the Metuchen plant on December 7, 1967 and delivered new on January 12, 1968. Originally ordered through Kimnach Ford of Norfolk, Virginia, the car is one of 1,053 fastbacks produced for the 1968 model year. It is finished in Highland Green over black and equipped with a 302ci V8, 4-speed manual transmission, 3. 89 Traction-Lok 9 rear end, power steering, power front disc brakes, an AM radio, and factory air conditioning. A refurbishment was completed in 2010, and the car been driven approximately 30 miles since. The sale includes a Deluxe Marti report, the original intake manifold and carburetor, records and documentation, awards, and a clean North Carolina title. A mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment took place between 2009 and 2010, and work included a bare metal repaint in the factory Highland Green. Of the 1,053 GT350 fastbacks produced in 1968, 520 were finished in Highland Green. Ten-spoke 15 cast-aluminum wheels are fitted with correct Goodyear white-lettered radials. This car was also equipped with power steering, tinted glass, and wheel well moldings. All of the original equipment was reportedly retained during the interior refresh, including the gauges, AM radio, wood-wrapped steering wheel. Options include a sport deck rear seat, tilt-away steering column, Selectaire air-conditioner, an interior decor group, a tachometer, and trip odometer. Autographs from Carroll Shelby are present on the glove compartment and under the hood on the air cleaner housing. The 302ci V8 send power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and a 3. 89 Traction-Lok differential. The engine, transmission, rear end, and suspension were rebuilt by Randy Stone of Greensboro, North Carolina during the 2009-2010 refurbishment. The factory updated aluminum intake is currently installed on the car, and the original Autolite carburetor and cast iron intake are included. Inspection markings are evident in undercarriage photos, with additional images shown in the gallery. A Deluxe Marti report is viewable above, confirming colors, options, and production dates. Multiple awards accompany the sale, including a first place trophy from the AACA Grand National meet in 2010.
