Description
The car was subsequently restored, including a repaint in Bianco and a refresh of the interior. The 4-speed â??tunnel caseâ? manual gearbox was refurbished in 2013 with new bearings and syncro rings sourced from a donor transmission and accompanied by new driveline universals and differential seal. The restoration of the body began in early 2013 with the remainder of the car disassembled and the body media blasted to the bare metal. Signs of previous repair work were corrected along the front passenger side, and rust found in the rocker panel structure and driverâ??s foot well was repaired. The car was repainted with PPG Concept in the proper Pininfarina Bianco color with 3M Body Schutz applied to the underside. All chrome pieces were re-plated at the same time. A new Robbins cloth soft top was fitted with new seals and shown above. Inside, new upholstery finished in the proper black with red piping were accompanied by new instrument lenses, new windscreen, Wilton wool carpets, and rubber mats. Additionally all rubber hoses and seals were replaced. Electrics were converted to negative ground with a modern voltage regulator and fitted with a new cloth-covered wiring loom. The underhood chassis plate is a reproduction unit that lists the currently installed engine number. This twin cam inline-four is a genuine Veloce engine block (#1315*31328) that was rebuilt in the early 1990s with Normale parts and is now fitted with a single Weber carburetor. Recent work includes the replacement of the water pump, installation of an electric fuel pump and Bosch distributor. The suspension and axles received new Koni shocks, new bearings and seals. The rear trailing arms and triangle received new bushings along with new retaining straps and bump stops. A one inch front sway bar was added and all upper A-arm bushings were replaced. New brake lines were installed and accompanied by re-lined brake shoes and the rebuilding of the master and wheel cylinders. Additionally the wiper motor was serviced, and new wheel boxes and wiper arms installed. Numerous photos are included in the gallery that highlight the condition of the undercarriage. Included in the sale is the original steel oil pan, original head mounted mechanical fuel pump, original Lucas starter, distributor, and voltage regulator. Also included in the sale is damaged sand cast block (1315*40391) that is reported to be a 1956 manufacture date.
